Top Winter photoshoot locations and ideas

Winter, (sigh, you know it’s not my favourite!) let’s face it. It’s a tough month but strangely enough it can also be an exciting one! (Xmas and my birthday makes it better for me!).

We finally give in to the cold and dark days and go all Hygge (look it up!). This is the best time of year for those indoor photo sessions, or brave it outside if you dare!

Here’s a round up of ideas and locations to set your creative mind going for a Winter portrait session.

1. Moors

Yes I’ve gone there again. But if there’s going to be snow in Devon, then this is the place to be! I am fully into a snowy portrait session even if my fingers freeze. It may be last minute - But get in touch and I’ll try my best to shoot it for you!

2. Studio

Cosy and warm in my studio, we will keep it simple or creative with lighting and backdrop changes.

3. Indoors location

Choose a hotel or building where there’s cover or freedom to use the indoor space. Treat yourself to a hotel room and have a session in there, corridor or lift! It’ll be a squeeze but I did say these sessions can be intimate!

4. At home

You can always opt not to leave your house and have me come to you! Have a couple’s session where you lounge on the sofa, make cookies in the kitchen together, roll on the floor with the dog. These sessions are super fun, intimate and totally in your comfort zone.

Basically you don’t need to shutdown in winter – use it and the excuse to create something completely different to summer beachy sessions.
