my style and passion as a portrait photographer and story teller

What drives my passion
as a photographer?

Photography for me is not just about capturing images, but about telling stories through them. As a photographer, I have a passion for capturing the beauty and personality of those who are in front of my camera - with an appreciation of the surroundings and design that goes into creating the images.

Urban and rural landscapes, historic manor houses, creative architecture, ruins, streets, at home, hotels, arcades and so much more - these are locations that excite me because I can create with a timeless quality and use what's in front of me to be unique to your story. Using these visible elements to shape you into an image...that is perfect for my photography style.

The endless creativity of finding unique angles and perspectives is what makes this type of portrait photography so exciting. These are all locations I love to photograph at as they don't need any styling to add, it always feels organic - real. I like to use these places like a prop, work my posing and story telling with the texture of the walls, composition of furniture and objects. The same applies for studio photoshoots - this time having full creative design to create whatever I want solely based on what you tell me about you, your story and your Why. I can bring in different colours, textures, furniture, flowers, make props, use creative lighting or completely strip it back. The creative ideas are endless but when I get presented with a story, a Why, a prop or location - my brain is a literal Pinterest board, whirling around with ideas possibly based off one thing you may have told me. And while you are telling me, I'm already at the shoot visualising everything you are saying to me coming to life in a creative way to frame YOU.

Garden spaces are another favourite location of mine. These natural spaces offer a peaceful and elegant backdrop that is perfect for capturing beauty and intimate images. The colours, patterns and shapes of the flowers and trees allow for creative design of the images and creative styling of what you can wear. Whether it’s a secluded corner of a country garden or a dramatic city park, the beauty and variation of nature always adds to the images.

To complete the creative process, I love photographing people who enjoy fashion, style, and have a story to tell. Working with interesting subjects to photograph is a dream. Diving into who you are, who you've been and who you want to become. Asking Why you want to be photographed now and how you want to feel looking back at those images. These are all questions I have to find answers to in order to create. It is a process that entails a lot of work, research and planning and the rewards are well worth the effort. I love capturing the unique personalities of my subjects, and the stories you all have to tell.

From idea to print and all in-between, the experience of having a photo taken goes much, much deeper than the click of a button.

Examples of sessions You can have based on my style.

Family photoshoot

Choose your favourite place you all go for food. A certain fast food chain all sat in a booth enjoying your happy meals, feeding chips to each other and blowing paper off the straws. OR a picnic in a garden park, complete with a blanket, hamper, drinks and dips - playing lawn games while sipping on grapes, rolling around on the blanket with tickle fights.

Self- Love / Maternity

Beach lovers, head into the ocean for a self love or maternity session - strip back and bathe in mindfulness. Just you in the sunrise or sunset, soaking it all in, with sandy toes and salty skin, creating a new story for yourself.

Couples

Go back to your first date, or something you love doing together. If you both love music, head to a vinyl store and be captured sifting through old records, listening to your favourite tunes and snuggle up to them while I capture those intimate moments.

Branding

Focus on who you want your clients to see, bring your brand and personality to each other and create lifestyle images that reflect your ethos and super power as an entrepreneur. Create beyond the basics, add a touch of You. If you are a florist, you could bring in a model wearing your flowers in her hair! Let other’s see your offerings in another light.

Studio

Use the studio to strip it all back or get creative with lighting to reflect your personality ; ethereal light for a calm and enlightening story. Strong, dramatic lighting and styling for a more powerful vibe.
