A Mother and Daughter Nature Photoshoot

Capturing the bond between mother and daughter is one of the most heartwarming experiences that I get to photograph. Recently, I had the privilege of capturing a mother-daughter photoshoot that was filled with moments of love and laughter between them both.

The approach to this photoshoot was to find a variety of scenic locations throughout the park, each unique in beauty and rich in natural light, to capture the essence of the connection between mother and daughter.

The session began with the lake and some sweet portraits of them both. We the moved on to a picnic scene with food, basket and some flowers to interact with - creating some truly stunning motherhood images.

As the evening rolled in, we used the trees for the low light that was appearing through, with apple picking and unique imagery.

In every photograph I take, I strive to create a connection with my clients by making them feel seen, heard, and understood. In capturing and preserving these memories is beyond compare, ensuring that my clients feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera. This was the perfect setting for this mother daughter photoshoot which signifies the ending of a childhood era and the start of a new bond between them both.

“I met Emma a few years ago at my sister in laws wedding, I’d already seen the stunning engagement shoot she had done with them prior to this. She was so warm, welcoming and open to us all putting us at ease instantly.

When I saw that Emma had started doing motherhood shoots I jumped at the chance, like so many mothers at times I’ve loathed having my photo taken however it recently dawned on me that my daughter would have so few images of us together to look back on.

As she approaches age 10 I feel her slipping through my fingers gradually and I need to capture who we were in this moment before it was too late. Emma and I met to discuss ideas and a vision for the shoot, we quickly realised we were on the same page. We worked together to style the shoot, Emma even offered her hair and make up contacts.

She was happy to entertain my ideas and collaborate with me, she was patient with Eliza when she needed a break. We met again after the shoot to discuss which images I liked.

Emma is such a calming influence with a brilliant artistic flair, I can trust her with our family images for years to come. It’s worth every penny when you’re immortalised in an image you can all treasure forever, thank you Emma for our perfect bohemian, woodland walk mother and daughter shoot. You produced exactly what I dreamed of.” - Hayley

“As a mum some moments feel endless like lack of sleep or reasons to worry. Other moments seem to pass by at lightening speed before you’ve even had time to notice; you’ve changed your last nappy, buckled your last car seat and mummy has turned into mum. Maybe we both miss those moments therefore we must capture the “us of today” before we become the “us of then”. Mums are so quick to capture images of dads yet we dodge the lens ourselves forgetting one day this is all our child will have left of us. I burst with pride as she grows but my heart also breaks a little as all the different eras fade away, saved only in our memories and camera rolls.

Soon it’ll be ten years of us, you teaching me and me teaching you.

Take the pictures, now, tomorrow, everyday. This is us, the us we’ll look back on and treasure someday.” - Hayley
