Flash Wedding: evening couples session with wardrobe change

add some extra spice to your wedding with couples photos - flash style!

Weddings are a day of celebration and If you’ve chosen an all day event from getting ready with your tribe to partying hard - then this blog post’s for you. But even if you aren’t doing the full works, this type of photography can still be for you and here’s how you can incorporate it into your day.

Among the various styles and techniques used in wedding photography, evening couples flash photos (with an excuse for a wardrobe change might I add) can create unforgettable images. It’s a cherry on top of with each other, with the day almost behind you, you can both let go and unwind - fully relaxed in front of the camera with some fizz and great vibes!

When

The evening hours at a wedding provide a unique backdrop for couples to truly shine. The soft glow of the setting sun or the warm ambiance of the venue's lighting creates a magical atmosphere. Fab for the dreamy soft light and I am all for this! But let’s put a twist on it, plus it’s a weather proof idea too! Win.

If you’ve opted for a second outfit or want to throw the jacket and tie, now is the time for your flash couples session. This is best between dinner and first dance OR after first dance and the last 30 mins before your photographer leaves.

WHY

During the evening hours, natural lighting often begins to fade, skies darken when there is rain, making it crucial to have artificial lighting techniques at hand. Flash photography plays an essential role in ensuring that you remain the focus of the image while capturing the surrounding ambiance. The use of flash allows for dramatic lighting effects, highlighting your features and adding depth to the photographs.

Technical reasons aside…because it’s so much fun! This is the part of the day where you can really let go, it’s all a bonus from here and a great way to get some extra time with your new husband or wife!

The outfit

Changing into a different outfit offers you the opportunity to showcase your personality, style, and uniqueness qwerks with each other. Whether it's a timeless black-tie look, a whimsical bohemian ensemble, or a vibrant traditional dress, a wardrobe change can provide a fresh and exciting element to your photos. This allows you to capture various moods and emotions, resulting in a more diverse and visually captivating wedding album.

Where

To make the most of evening couples flash photos and wardrobe changes, thoughtful consideration should be given to the location. The bridal suite is a great setting as it’ll be clean, enough space and it allows this part of your venue to be captured! You could choose a quiet intimate indoor space at your venue, use sofas, cosy corners, sneak away with some extra bubbly and cake or head outside with a beautifully lit cityscape. Picking the perfect backdrop can greatly enhance the overall aesthetic of the images.

Communication

Talk to your photographer about adding this onto your timeline and make sure you both know when this will take place and that you’ll be happy with leaving your guests for 20 mins to get these photos. Make sure you let your photographer know where and what you are bringing to this session and the type of vibes you are going for.

Evening couples flash photos with an added wardrobe change offer a fabulous twist to traditional wedding photography. By embracing the use of flash, these images can capture the romantic, artistic, and unique essence of you as a couple. Whether it's a grand celebration or an intimate affair, these stunning photos will become cherished memories for years to come.

So let’s get your peace fingers up, champagne in hand, outfit number two steamed and ready for action.
We’re here to end your wedding day on a high!
