The Key things to mention when you first enquire with your wedding supplier

What should you say to your potential supplier when you first contact them?

We’re all ‘busy’ all of the time it seems. Juggling multiple things at once, with so much in our heads we can sometimes struggle to finish each task. So when it comes to your wedding planning, why not make it as easy as possible to start with and then let your suppliers take care of the rest. Leaving you one less thing to worry about and a massive tick off your wedmin list.

Let’s talk about the basics and what to say when you first contact your wedding suppliers.

Aside from emailing are you available and how much? You want to add a little more spice to your first email. This will lead to multiple back and forth emails when this can really be done in 1-2 tops!

You want to dive deeper into your suppliers to find out if they are the right fit for you and they can equally know if you are the right fit for them.

Who is the enquiry from?

You want to address your email or message to your supplier starting with both of your names. It’s a wedding for the two of you, so make sure you are both involved and CC the other partner in if you don’t have a joint email.

(btw wedding emails are fantastic to keep all your wedmin in one place and you can both log in to keep track! example; jengregwedding@mail.com)

Introducing yourselves like this will instantly build a great rapport with your potential supplier opening a connection just by knowing your names! They will know who you are and that you are both involved in the planning process.

what kind of wedding are you having?

Now is the time to give a little insight into the type of wedding you are wanting to have or have planned. Whether it’s an elopement for you two, an intimate small wedding with your nearest and dearest or a full day of celebrating with 100+ guests. Be very open to the type of wedding you are planning so that the supplier can give you a more direct response in the first email and not have to dig deeper through multiple emails, ultimately being time consuming for everyone!

where are you having your wedding?

This is a biggy! It’s so important and again omits the guessing game for your supplier. Immediately they can visualise where it’ll be and the expectation of the type of wedding you maybe having. This is also take into account any extra costs in expenses and timings to make it possible, especially if you have multiples locations. If you know where you are both getting ready, ceremony venue, reception venue - let them know in this first email!

bonus: ask to look at their previous work

This may get answered for you anyway in the supplier’s first response. They should be able to send you examples based on what you’ve told them or give an insight towards it. Perhaps a blog, video or gallery. Ask to look at real weddings they have worked on – I can’t stress this enough. It’s all great and shiny when viewing a suppliers website with their top 10 photos from hundreds of weddings but make sure you dive into their website and social medias beforehand and if there isn’t enough, this is where you ask in your first email. You are only seeing a very tiny idea of how they can create for you. Visually seeing what they can create on a wider level is going to massively help you to imagine how they can work for you on your wedding day.
