Fashion Modelling Studio Photoshoot in Devon

At my studio in Plymouth, Devon I was contacted to create a brand new portfolio for young model to be Harmony. She had never experienced a photoshoot, this was her first time in front of the camera so education and guidance was given from start to end to help her understand how a professional photoshoot works.

We discussed styling and a brief with stylist Natalie Watts. The theme was ‘Black’ using only black outfits with a white backdrop and variation on lighting.

Here I’ve used the same posing, outfit and hair makeup and changed the lighting set up. The first image the light is directly on the model giving a high end, strong feel to the image. The second, by just turning the light away from the model it has created a much softer look.

With any model portfolio, I look to create at least 15 images using 5-6 outfits, working towards 3 images per look and each as varied in posing as possible.

“A really great experience. I became more confident and relaxed with Emma’s guidance and encouragement. I learnt some really interesting techniques. The quality of the photos are stunning and I feel so much more confident in front of the camera as a result. Can’t wait to do another shoot!” - Harmony

After the photoshoot I had the model sit at that the studio to look through the images. Explaining how she developed her confidence from start to finish so she could actually see her progression, along with anything she needed to work on for future photoshoots and images photographers and client’s would be looking to select to use.

My team were there to hand, creating makeup and hair suitable for Harmony’s age and the brief.
