Behind the Scenes: Unveiling the Unsung Heroes of Your Wedding Day

The Wedding Suppliers

I've been a part of the wedding industry for a very long time now (2009), and there's one thing that I can't help but notice:

The work we do is invisible. Which in a way, is how you want it.

“As a photographer I feel I also come under; planner, friend, stylist, cleaner, personal assistant, adviser…” - Emma

You don't see us, but we're there. As photographer's we bring everything together that you and other suppliers have prepared. We make sure that the bridesmaids' dresses fit right, that the guys know how to tie their ties properly, you are on time, ensure you eat and drink something, notice the labels on shoes, pick up your flowers, take confetti our of your hair, direct your guests to the toilets—all of this stuff that gets overlooked because everyone is so focused on the couple, naturally.

We make sure everything goes off without a hitch. And when it does, we want you to know how much we appreciate it!

Your wedding day is undoubtedly one of the most important days of your life. From the moment you say "yes" to the time you walk down the aisle, there are countless decisions to be made and countless suppliers working tirelessly behind the scenes to bring your dreams to life. The wedding industry is a complex web of dedicated professionals, each with their own unique role in making your day truly special. As a photographer, I have had the privilege of witnessing this hidden world in action, capturing the magic as it unfolds before my lens.

When you think about your wedding, the first thoughts that come to mind are probably the outfit, the venue, and perhaps the flowers. But have you ever paused to consider the countless suppliers who work tirelessly to bring your day together? From the moment you start planning, there is a whole network of professionals silently ensuring that every detail is perfect.

Let’s begin with the backbone of any wedding – the wedding planner. They are the unseen heroes who coordinate everything behind the scenes. From researching and booking suppliers to managing timelines and budgets, they ensure that everything runs smoothly. Without them, your big day would be a series of disjointed events. Their attention to detail and organisational skills are unparalleled. This goes for co-ordinators and of course your photographer, who like me, work incredibly hard to keep the running of the day on point and jumping in when needed to keep everything smooth sailing.

The very reason you are having a wedding. The marriage. And no marriage is legal without your registrar, priest etc and your witnesses. Even if you have an elopement and no guests at all, there must be two witnesses and this means people like a co-ordinator and photographer (I’ve been one mulitple times!) will double up and step in as that witness. We’ve Got You.

Next, we have the decorators and stylists who transform your chosen venue into a fairytale setting. They carefully consider your vision, working tirelessly to create the atmosphere you've always dreamed of. From elegant floral arrangements and stunning backdrops to subtle lighting and table scapes, they have a magical ability to turn your ideas into reality.

The caterers are another group of unsung heroes. Behind the scenes, they work tirelessly to create a culinary experience that will leave a lasting impression on your guests. From the initial menu planning to sourcing the finest ingredients and creating beautiful presentations, their expertise and attention to detail are second to none. You may not see them as you enjoy your meal, but their hard work and passion are woven into every bite.

The wedding stationary designers are the artists who set the tone for your wedding day. From the save-the-dates to the invitations and thank-you cards, they create beautifully crafted pieces that reflect your style and personality. Their eye for design and attention to detail ensure that your guests are treated to a sneak peek of the elegance and charm that awaits them.

Of course there’s the team who help put You together. The hair and make up artists as well as the dress designers, tailors and seamstresses. Adding that elegance and long lasting style to you day.

Don’t forget the entertainment! They give a whole lease of life to your day with energy and party vibes. Keeping yourselves and your guests on a buzz throughout your day.

Finally, there are the photographers and videographers – the storytellers of your wedding day. As a photographer myself, I have the privilege of capturing every heartfelt moment, every tear, and every smile. We blend into the background, documenting the day as it unfolds, preserving memories that will be treasured for a lifetime. Our artistry lies in our ability to capture the raw emotions that fill the day, immortalising them in beautiful photographs that will transport you back to those fleeting moments for years to come.

While these are just a few examples of the behind-the-scenes professionals who contribute to your special day, they each play a crucial role in creating the wedding of your dreams. Their dedication, expertise, and passion for their craft are evident in every detail, even if you don't notice them amidst the festivities.

So, the next time you look through your wedding album or watch your wedding video, take a moment to appreciate the army of suppliers who worked meticulously to ensure that your day was everything you'd hoped for. From the wedding planner to the decorators, the caterers to the stationary designers, the hair and make up stylists, the outfit designers and the seamstresses, the band and entertainment, the florist, venue staff, the photographers and videographers – they are the unsung heroes who make it all possible.
