Albums - print your portrait and wedding photos

I am a firm believer in printed work. I truly feel that a photo isn’t “done” until it’s printed or in an album. Since I was a child I printed all of my 35mm films from my compact cameras. And over the past few years I’ve taken each year’s worth of digital photos and created an album of them so I can look back and see what I’ve done and achieved in a year. Albums and prints are part of our legacy. And in this blog post, I’m going to try my hardest to convince you that yes, a professionally printed album is WORTH IT.

Photos to Album

Firstly, even a photography session that isn’t a wedding is a highly meaningful event all the same. Just because it isn’t a wedding, doesn’t make it any less special! For instance, a maternity shoot, the first family photos, a makeover portrait session to mark turning 40! These are all important events, because they are!

But I will use a wedding as an example for this next point. You spend months planning your session, event or wedding day. From the dress, the flavour of the cake, the font on the invites, to the right shade of pink for the flowers in your bouquet. And then day of the wedding it’s a huge weight lifted off your shoulders. Last thing you’ll want to do is sift through 600+ images choosing which ones make it into your album. Then you’ll probably turn to Facebook for your friends suggestions on where to print and you’ll forget the online gallery website for weeks.

Weeks turn into months.

Computers crash.

The office turns into a nursery.

Life happens.

Years go by. And all you have is a USB in the junk drawer.

Your wedding photos – next to the super glue and batteries.

Awesome.

THE DESIGN PROCESS

Albums have been a product I've always loved producing for my clients as they showcase your legacy.

My wedding albums come in five different sizes from 20-100 pages.
8.5x12”, 10x10”, 10x14”, 12x12” and 12x16”.

They are designed by myself using your favourite photos from your collection. Step by step your album is created, printed and delivered.

I’m here to make this process easy and exciting. After you receive your final gallery and if not pre discussed, I will get in touch to offer you an album design service. You will select your favourites from your online gallery along with the album size and page estimate. Your first album proof is delivered where you can make comments for any adjustments. You hired me to capture the happiest day or moment of your life and I’ll show you the best way it’s story is told.

I use professional software to help me lay out the images in a minimalistic design. That software has the exact measurements of the album maker, so the proofs are exactly how the album will look.

Smaller Albums (what I like to call the parent album)

A parent album is an exact duplicate of the couples wedding album in the relevant smaller size. This is a great addition to your album purchase to keep back for a thank you or a Christmas/Birthday present.

  • Choose from an 8X8” or  8x6.5 “(A5)

Hard back of 20-100 pages

  •  10x14cm or 10x10cm

Soft back 8 copies of 20-100 pages

Mini Album & USB

This is probably my favourite product I have to offer. These are perfect for elopement weddings, boudoir and family sessions. You have your digital files in a usb stored safely and a hand bag size album to grab easily, show and travel with. The Box has a magnetic closure, stunning colours to choose from and personalised text.

Main Album

The ultimate bridal album for the couple. With 5 size options these albums are archival with the most professional finish. With various colours to choose from and personalised text. These albums will live on as legacy heirlooms. IT’S TRUE – YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

Ok fine, build your own album. But as a consumer (non-professional) you don’t have access to the best labs for a long lasting design.

My album maker is just that – an album maker. Quality that your photos deserve.

Of course, online consumer print labs are cheaper, but there is a reason for that. They won’t supply you with archival paper, spines that won’t crack, and that new leather smell. Also, consumer printers will most likely print your photos with the wrong colour calibration, leaving them bright yellow, greenish or dark. Your photos are carefully and skilfully worked on during the editing process, with colour tones well thought out. Don’t let these high street labs ruin all that hard work!

TECHNOLOGY CHANGES

Hard drives crash. Computers get stolen. Your new computer may not even have a USB port in a few years. Those CD’s and drives will be obsolete in no time. And your daughter certainly won’t be able to unlock that iPhone 11 Pro in 30 years.

Albums are forever.

Forever ever.

“BUT THEY’RE SO EXPENSIVE!”

Yes they are. You know what else was expensive? Your dress. That tux. Your favourite flowers that were shipped from another country because they were out of season. The cake that no one ate because they were too busy dancing with YOU!

Don’t those photos deserve to be preserved in a stunning, luxury album on your coffee table where you can see them whenever you’d like?

Aren’t you proud of the time you spent planning every single detail of that day? Doesn’t your day deserve to be documented forever?

Some clients use wedding gifts/money towards the purchase of their wedding album. Before you know it, that gorgeous album will be proudly displayed in your home and all of your friends can gush over your wedding day every time they visit.

I’d love to hear what you have to say – did you get an album with your wedding photos? Do you regret building your own? Do you have access to your images and want to make an album now? Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about the process.
